CULTURAL CAMPFIRE FRIDAY JUNE 1ST
Please join us at our monthly CULTURAL CAMPFIRE Friday, June 1 in the Anabolic Monument for an evening of dialogue with guest presenter Cindi Alvitre.
Discussions range from historical use of space to current issues of water and land use. Ms. Alvitre will speak about connection to the land as an indigenous person whose ancestors have lived in this Los Angeles Basin area for thousands of years.
Bring a mat, blanket or camping chair to sit on the sandy area of the garden. We also invite you join us in potluck style and its zero waste, so please bring your own eating & drinking ware.
NATURE WALK JUNE 2ND
Nature Walks take the visitor around the 13 acre area covered with Southern California native flora every first Saturday of the month. We begin walks at 10a.m.
A description of the edible, medicinal and cultural use of the plants is included in the walk. A brief history of place also is given to contextualize the changes in the use of the land, beginning in the pre-contact period of the land. Olivia Chumacero speaks from an indigenous perspective about the land’s history, the fauna and flora.
